Langlas Family Summer Apprenticeship Program
The Education Foundation is pleased to announce a summer apprenticeship program funded through the Langlas Endowment Fund and offered to students interested in pursuing the building trades in one of the following areas: general construction, cabinetry, mechanical work (plumbing or heating/ventilation), welding, interior design, and electrical work. This apprenticeship places each student with a contractor (employer) for ten weeks.  The contractor (employer) is chosen in conjunction with the interests of the student.

  • The employer will pay the student a competitive wage – minimum of $12/hr.

  • The employer may terminate the student at the employer’s discretion.

  • The employer commits to teaching the student a set of agreed upon skills.

  • The  Education Foundation reimburses the employer $6/hour for each hour the student works up to 400 hours.

  • Many jobs in the construction trade require students to be at least 18 years of age – the Langlas apprenticeship is a great opportunity for graduating seniors to start a job that may lead into a permanent job and a good career.

We ask for you to recommend students for the apprenticeship with the following qualities:

  • Strong interest in the building trades

  • Demonstrated reliability

  • At least 17 years old

Please ask each student to fill out the attached form.  Applications are due to the Foundation by April 19, 2021.  Applications are available in the School Guidance Office or on the Foundation’s website at www.efbps.org under scholarships.

Applications can be submitted online or returned to your school counselor, career coach, or sent to the Education Foundation (415 N. 30th Street, Billings, MT 59101).
